Strengths • Good shooting touch out to 12 feet • Developing repertoire of post moves • Nice footwork on the blocks • Excellent shooting range • Puts himself in good position for offensive rebounds • Good free throw shooter Weaknesses • Passing out of double teams – needs to anticipate open man • Needs to be more physical establishing position – set a solid base • Should improve using both hands around basket Defense Strengths • Good jumper - goes after rebounds • Denies the post well Weaknesses • Needs to get tougher in the post – use his body better • Improve timing of blocked shots • On screens is slow to help and recover Analysis Brackins has had both his good and bad moments over the last season – he just needs to find a more consistent rhythm to his game. On offense, Brackins has developed into an efficient low post scorer, adding some new post moves and a nice touch around the basket. He needs to become more of a complete post player, including becoming a better passer out of double teams and becoming a more physical presence on the blocks. Becoming more physical will also help Brackins out on the defensive end where he has a tendency to let players get in too deep on him. Also, he will need to a better job using his length and athleticism to alter and block shots. - Ed Isaacson |
