Strengths • Good size – has advantage over most other small forwards • Can create own shot • Goes strong to basket – draws fouls • Good free throw shooter • Playmaker – creates shots for others Weaknesses • Needs to become a more consistent perimeter shooter • Needs to use his size more to his advantage Defense Strengths • Does a good job preventing penetration • Rebounds well Weaknesses • Needs to improve foot speed and lateral movement • Should improve strength Analysis Hayward has developed into one of the better all-around talents in college basketball. On offense, he has become a dependable scorer and playmaker. He has great size for a small forward, and can easily shoot over defenders. He is also a very good passer for his size and does a good job getting his teammates involved. Though not the quickest defender, Hayward does a good job keeping his assignment away from the basket. He is also a strong rebounder, going hard after missed shots. If he adds a little more muscle, he could become much more of an offensive and defensive force. - Ed Isaacson |
