Analysis
Whiteside has exploded onto the scene in 2010 based upon his remarkable blocking ability. While raw on the offensive end, Whiteside does show promise. He has a nice touch on his shot, is aggressive on the offensive boards, and has worked on developing his post moves. He needs to get stronger in order to get better position on the blocks. The increased strength would also serve him well on the defensive end. Currently, his defensive skills are limited to his shot blocking ability, though he has improved in his positioning through the year. While he certainly could use more time in college learning the fundamentals, Whiteside may want to jump into the NBA since he will be turning 21 already before this year’s draft. While he is unpolished, his athleticism may be too much for team’s to pass up.
