Round 1

Skip To Round:  1  •  2  •  3  •  4  •  5  •  6  •  7  •  Undrafted
1 Houston Blake Bortles* QB Central Florida 6' 5" 232
DraftSite's comments:Jadeveon Clowney remains a strong possibility here as a linebacker in the 3-4 set but Bortles gives the Texans the long term answer they are seeking at quarterback. There are questions about all of the top quarterbacks available but Bortles seems like the sure thing, he had the best pro day and working out at the Combine helped his stock. Clowney is still in play and does fit as a linebacker in Houston.
2 St. Louis Trade Icon Jake Matthews OT Texas A&M 6' 5" 308
DraftSite's comments:The Rams look like the most likely team to trade down and if Clowney is on the board the phones might be ringing off the hook. Greg Robinson may be the better run blocker but Matthews has the pedigree and the fact that Jeff Fisher coached his Hall of Fame father will help the push to land Matthews. Matthews is simply the best lineman available and maybe the most pro ready prospect at any position.
3 Jacksonville Jadeveon Clowney* DE South Carolina 6' 5" 266
DraftSite's comments:Without question Clowney has more talent than any other prospect in this draft. No question the Jaguars need a quarterback but they their inability to get to the quarterback and get the defense off the field hurt them even more. When your team has the fewest quarterback sacks in the NFL over the last three seasons why not get the best rushing talent available.
4 Cleveland Johnny Manziel** QB Texas A&M 6' 0" 207
DraftSite's comments:Yes, we know the Browns were one of the two teams not at Johnny Manziel's Pro Day (along with the Bears), but they have been keeping their quarterback preferences very close to the vest. The Browns haven't been seen at any quarterback Pro Days and seem to be making their decision based on the game film and private workouts. Manziel is the mobile quarterback that fits the system Kyle Shanahan will employ in Cleveland.
5 Oakland Sammy Watkins* WR Clemson 6' 1" 211
DraftSite's comments:Johnny Manziel is getting a lot of attention in Oakland but he is off the board in this scenario. The Raiders have been without a legitimate #1 option at wide receiver since it seems like the days of Tim Brown. Matt Schaub is a band-aid and not the long term solution but he is serviceable and the Raiders are interested in winning now. The wild card here could be linebacker Khalil Mack who would bring a formidable presence off the edge.
6 Atlanta Khalil Mack OLB Buffalo 6' 3" 251
DraftSite's comments:With the new 3-4 alignment Atlanta would be crazy to pass on Mack who is the perfect linebacker for this system. Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews are possibilities here or maybe even Sammy Watkins if he somehow falls past Oakland as an eventually replacement for Roddy White.
7 Tampa Bay Greg Robinson** OT Auburn 6' 5" 332
DraftSite's comments:Sammy Watkins is a target the Buccaneers would like to land and pair with Vincent Jackson. With Watkins off the board building the line seems to be the best thing they can do. Robinson looks to be the best run blocking lineman available and with Doug Martin coming back off of injury the Buccaneers feel this will help the offense get back to basics and take some pressure off of young Mike Glennon.
8 Minnesota Derek Carr QB Fresno State 6' 2" 214
DraftSite's comments:You don’t bring in a guy like Norv Turner if coaching up a young quarterback is not something you intend to do. The Christian Ponder era in Minnesota looks like it is coming to a halt. Derek Carr seems to a quarterback that will fit the system more than Teddy Bridegwater and his stock is moving in the wrong direction.
9 Buffalo Eric Ebron* TE UNC 6' 4" 250
DraftSite's comments:Even after the acquisition of Mike Williams from Tampa Bay the Bills are in need of young athletic targets for E.J. Manual. Ebron gives the Bills a top notch tight end who is an immediate receiving threat and the Bills have some bodies on the team that can help blocking.
10 Detroit Mike Evans** WR Texas A&M 6' 5" 225
DraftSite's comments:Mike Evans teaming with Calvin Johnson….yikes.
11 Tennessee Anthony Barr OLB UCLA 6' 5" 255
DraftSite's comments:Barr is a very raw and talented linebacker that is a converted running back. Extremely productive and active player who showed he could do more than just rush the passer this season. Tennessee will be switching to a 3-4 alignment this season so getting help with pressure off the edge should be a priority.
12 NY Giants Aaron Donald DT Pittsburgh 6' 1" 285
DraftSite's comments:The Giants bread and butter over the last decade has been the ability to move pieces around a deep defensive line. Donald is an undersized and active penetrator that will work at the NFL with a team that can keep him fresh. The Giants would be a great fit but look for cornerback and wide receiver to also be some positions where the team looks.
13 St. Louis Justin Gilbert CB Oklahoma State 6' 0" 202
DraftSite's comments:Truly a value pick as the Rams have the pick of the litter when looking at cornerbacks. Gilbert is regarded as the top available so the Rams take the plunge.
14 Chicago Ha Ha Clinton-Dix* S Alabama 6' 1" 208
DraftSite's comments:Any help in the secondary would be a welcomed sight for the Bears. Fans still have nightmares watching the team give up big play after big play late in 2013.
15 Pittsburgh Odell Beckham, Jr.* WR LSU 5' 11" 198
DraftSite's comments:Pittsburgh is showing a lot of interest in Beckham after losing Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders in back to back seasons. Darqueze Dennard is a physical corner that fits the Steelers style of play and nobody would be surprised if that was the direction the Steelers go.
16 Dallas Timmy Jernigan* DT Florida State 6' 2" 298
DraftSite's comments:Jernigan or Donald are the two lineman the Cowboys covet and Donald is off the board here. Jernigan is a presence that can play nearly anywhere along the line and the Cowboys have multiple holes to fill.
17 Baltimore Calvin Pryor* S Louisville 5' 11" 207
DraftSite's comments:We know the Ravens took Matt Elam as their top pick last year and his rookie campaign was a success. The Ravens currently have Darian Stewart penciled in to start with Elam in 2014. With a top flight talent like Pryor available and Jimmy Smith starting to come into form the Ravens secondary is starting to look like a strength rather than a weakness.
18 NY Jets Darqueze Dennard CB Michigan State 5' 11" 199
DraftSite's comments:Wide receiver or any offensive playmaker is probably the biggest need but you know Rex Ryan wants another cornerback and the Jets struck out trying to add a big name there during free agency. With only one corner off the board the Jets would look there and address the offense in later rounds.
19 Miami Taylor Lewan OT Michigan 6' 7" 309
DraftSite's comments:Even with the signing of Branden Albert the Dolphins will be looking at drafting at least two lineman during the first half of the Draft. With Lewan on the board at this point the Dolphins would be foolish not to gobble him up quickly.
20 Arizona Kony Ealy* DE Missouri 6' 4" 273
DraftSite's comments:There are a number of teams near the bottom of round 1 that need pass rushing help off the edge. With John Abraham turning 36 you better believe the Cardinals are one of those teams.
21 Green Bay C.J. Mosley ILB Alabama 6' 2" 234
DraftSite's comments:This could be Calvin Pryor if he is available or maybe even Jimmie Ward at safety but that would likely mean the Packers are trading down. Mosley is moving down on most boards but he will stiff be selected during the 1st round. Mosley gives the Packers an all-around threat that can play in the middle and even provide coverage against opposing tight ends.
22 Philadelphia Brandin Cooks* WR Oregon State 5' 10" 186
DraftSite's comments:Wide receiver is not the biggest need on the team but with the departure of DeSean Jackson finding a speedy target is attractive, especially when fellow starter Jeremy Maclin is only signed to a 1-year deal. Cooks is also a Pac-12 product and Chip Kelly has shown a propensity to go to the well in the old conference during the early stages of his coaching career.
23 Kansas City Zack Martin OT Notre Dame 6' 4" 308
DraftSite's comments:Andy Reid likes building his team up front and he knows running the football with Jamaal Charles gives him the best chance at winning right now. Martin can also play tackle but he has shorter arms and experience in side so he would be a natural guard fit in Kansas City.
24 Cincinnati Ryan Shazier* OLB Ohio State 6' 2" 230
DraftSite's comments:At this point the Bengals are all about getting the best player available that will make a big impact. Marvin Lewis has had this team in the playoffs on a consistent basis but he is starting to feel the pressure and needs to win. Shazier is the defensive player that can come in and make the biggest impact right now.
25 San Diego Louis Nix* DT Notre Dame 6' 2" 331
DraftSite's comments:The Chargers lack that stout player in the middle of the defense clogging everything up and creating gaps and lanes for the linebackers to make plays with little or no challenging effort. In this scenario the Chargers land the premier 3-4 defensive tackle in the draft class.
26 Cleveland Trade Icon Bradley Roby* CB Ohio State 5' 11" 190
DraftSite's comments:With an extra first round selection there are a number of possibilities for the Browns. Here we have the Browns trying to find someone they can pair with Joe Haden long term. So many teams avoid Haden and his side of the field that finding a lockdown for the other side is very important and crucial for success.
27 New Orleans Dee Ford DE Auburn 6' 2" 252
DraftSite's comments:This may not be the player the Saints draft but there is no secret they are looking at defensive ends and linebackers that can pressure the quarterback. Virtually every player they seem to bring into the team complex for a visit plays these positions so either the Saints are looking to bring the heat on defense or they are throwing up a giant smokescreen.
28 Carolina Morgan Moses OT Virginia 6' 6" 314
DraftSite's comments:Wide receiver seems to be the biggest need but the Panthers would be better served drafting an offensive tackle and taking a couple of receivers in the later rounds as the dropoff is not as drastic at wide receiver as it is with offensive tackle.
29 New England Ra'Shede Hageman DT Minnesota 6' 6" 310
DraftSite's comments:The Patriots like versatile lineman and this is the calling card of RaShede Hageman. He wasn’t used as much as some of the other top prospects and he has the ability to play as an outside rusher or hold down the line on the interior where the Patriots will be certainly looking to replace Vince Wilfork by next season.
30 San Francisco Marqise Lee* WR USC 6' 0" 192
DraftSite's comments:An elite talent catching the football that skips a bit due to nagging injuries his junior season. Many forget that at the beginning of the season it was not Lee, not Sammy Watkins, that was regarded as the top wide receiver prospect available.
31 Denver Xavier Su'a-Filo* OG UCLA 6' 4" 307
DraftSite's comments:Denver will be looking along the line with their first pick the question is will it be the offensive or defensive line. We feel the need exists more on defense, especially with the injury suffered late last year to Von Miller but again with top talent available at guard the Broncos go along offense first and build on defense later.
32 Seattle Cyrus Kouandjio* OT Alabama 6' 7" 322
DraftSite's comments:Truly a value pick as someone will get Kouandijo a lot lower than originally anticipated. The reports of knee issues vary from team to team as Kouandijo was seen as a top 10 overall selection for 2/3 of the season. A big body with guard experience to go along with his work at tackle.
