Fierce 40 - Top 40 College Football Teams - 2014 Week 15

Ranking

Team

W-L

Result

Previous

1

Alabama

12-1

W:#11 Missouri 42-13

1

Alabama got back to pounding it in the ground game, more reminiscent of Alabama teams in past years that have won the SEC.

2

Oregon

12-1

W:#10 Arizona 51-13

2

Oregon comfortably wins and should be safe and qualify for the College Football Playoff. Not only does Oregon win the Pac-12, they avenge their only blemish on the season when they lost to Arizona.

3

Florida State

13-0

W:#13 Georgia Tech 37-35

3

Jameis Winston played great but the man fueling the Seminoles these days is freshman running back Dalvin Cook.

4

Ohio State

12-1

W:#8Wisconsin 59-0

5

I think Ohio State did enough to make it into the playoff, we will see if the committee agrees.

5

Baylor

11-1

W:#7 Kansas State 38-27

6

Sound win over Kansas State in what was an entertaining game. If all goes the way I believe it will Baylor will be the first team from the Big Ten very upset and hopefully this institutes a Championship Game for the Conference.

6

TCU

11-1

W:Iowa State 55-3

4

TCU may have the most balance of the three teams battling for the 4th playoff spot. Baylor beat TCU head-to-head and Ohio State gets extra points for actually having to play in a COnference Championship.

7

Mississippi State

10-2

Idle

9

A big game will come calling for Mississippi State, a team that should be playing on New Years Day.

8

Michigan State

10-2

Idle

12

Have a nice core of players returning for next season, the future is bright for Michigan State.

9

Ole Miss

9-3

Idle

14

Top three loss team in the rankings but the win over Alabama really looks impressive now that the Crimson Tide have won the SEC again.

10

Kansas State

9-3

L:#6 Baylor 27-38

7

Defense was not able to withstand the Baylor attack.

11

Arizona

10-3

L:#2 Oregon 13-51

10

Arizona beat Oregon the first time around but the Ducks were ready for the rematch.

12

Missouri

10-3

L:#1 Alabama 13-42

11

Missouri played well against Alabama...in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Alabama stomped on Missouri to start and end the game.

13

Georgia Tech

10-3

L:#3 Florida State 35-37

13

Will see they missed some chances because they were able to run the ball on Florida State. Could not get the offense on the same page in the passing attack late in the game.

14

Wisconsin

10-3

L:#5 Ohio State 0-59

8

Not the way Wisconsin wanted to end their season.

15

Georgia

9-3

Idle

15

Bulldogs will be looking to break double digits in wins as they await their bowl opponent.

16

UCLA

9-3

Idle

16

I think the Bruins would have been a more formidable opponent for Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship.

17

Auburn

8-4

Idle

17

Auburn ended their year at 8-4 as I had predicted in the Preseason.

18

Arizona State

9-3

Idle

18

We currently have the Sun Devils pegged for the Foster Farms Bowl on the 30th.

19

Clemson

9-3

Idle

19

Being #3 in the ACC should get the Tigers a nice Bowl appearance.

20

Boise State

11-2

W;Fresno State 28-14

22

Boise State should get the birth of top team outside the 5 Power Conferences.

21

Louisville

9-3

Idle

21

Louisville is fitting in quite nicely in the ACC.

22

Marshall

12-1

W:Louisiana Tech 26-23

23

Late comeback gives the Thundering Herd the Conference USA title.

23

LSU

8-4

Idle

24

Four losses in the SEC is like having only 2 or 3 in any other conference.

24

Minnesota

8-4

Idle

25

CA team that exceeded expectations in 2014, hopefully they are rewarded with a major bowl appearance.

25

Nebraska

Idle

26

Mike Riley was a surprise hire for the Cornhuskers.

26

Utah

8-4

Idle

27

The Utes are another team that exceeded expectations for 2014.

27

Oklahoma

8-4

L:Oklahoma State 35-38 OT

20

Thought they had it in the bag against Oklahoma State when they punted with under 1 minute remaining.

28

Colorado State

10-2

Idle

28

There will be some NFL Draft prospects coming from this squad.

29

USC

8-4

Idle 29

The first year of the Steve Sarkasian era was successful by most accounts.

30

Memphis

9-3

Idle

30

One of the three teams atop the Americna Athletic Conference.

31

Duke

9-3

Idle

31

Looking to end that drought for not winning a Bowl Game, the last time Duke won a Bowl Game was 1961.

32

Cincinnati

9-3

W:Houston 38-31

33

Held on late against Houston for the win.

33

UCF

9-3

W:#37 East Carolina 32-30

34

Finished in a three way tie for the Division Crown after winningon a Hail Mary.

34

Texas A&M

7-5

Idle

32

Ended the year meekly after a strong start.

35

Northern Illinois

11-2

W:Bowling Green 51-17

35

Northern Illinois defends last years title game where Bowling Green upset them.

36

Stanford

7-5 Idle 36

Riding a lot of momentum after derailing UCLA late in the year.

37

Washington

8-5

Idle

38

Chris Peterson is keeping Washington on the right track with at least 8 wins this season.

38

Air Force

9-3

Idle

39

Troy Calhoun will get some Coach of the Year votes with the job he did at Air Force this season.

39

West Virginia

7-5

Idle

40

One of my favorite teams to watch this season, very entertaining on offense.

40

East Carolina

8-4

L:#34 UCF 30-32

37

East Carolina fought back a huge fourth quarter only to lose on a Hail Mary.

Dropped Out: None.
