Ranking

Result

Previous

1

Florida State

5-0

W: Wake Forest

3

Back at the top in control of their own destiny.

2

Auburn

5-0

W: #17 LSU 41-7

5

One of the easiest wins scored over LSU in recent memory.

3

Mississippi State

 5-0

W: #8 Texas A&M 48-31

15

Is Dak Prescott practicing his Heisman pose?

4

Ole Miss

5-0

W: #4 Alabama 23-17

14

Very different result than we saw a year ago. The state of Mississippi is the center of the college football universe right now.

5

Notre Dame

5-0

W: #7 Stanford 17-14

16

4th and 11 with just over a minute to go...no problem for Everett Golson.

6

Michigan State

4-1

W: #13 Nebraska 27-22

6

Got a scare late and had to hang on.  Michigan State looks like the best of the 1 loss teams in the country with this defense.

7

Baylor

5-0

W: Texas 28-7

9

Who would have thought one of the marquee matchups for week 7 was going to be Baylor vs. TCU....it goes down next week.

8

Oklahoma

4-1

L: #37 TCU 33-37

2

Not the way Oklahoma wanted to start their preparation for the Red River game with Texas.

9

Oregon

4-1

L: #34 Arizona 24-31

1

It was just a matter of time before this offensive line cost Oregon a victory and the game Thursday with Arizona was it. Who knew the Oregon loss would set the stage for one of the wildest weekends in NCAA history.

10

Alabama

4-1

L: #14 Ole Miss 17-23

4

Alabama isn't accustomed to dropping games this early in the season.

11

Ohio State

4-1

W: #39 Maryland 52-24

11

Ohio State is starting to show some offensive balance and J.T. Barrett is looking comfortable under center.

12

Georgia

4-1

W: Vanderbilt 44-17

12

We told you earlier this week how Georgia was looking to open up the passing game and that's what they did Saturday.

13

TCU

4-0

W: #2 Oklahoma 37-33

37

Very close game with Oklahoma, the difference was the 10 third down conversions for the Horned Frogs. No time to rest, TCU now gets Baylor.

14

Arizona

5-0

W: #1 Oregon 31-24

34

A sqeaker against UTSA and then a Hail Mary win against Cal leads to a thumping of top ranked Oregon in Eugene. Last year Auburn got to the title game with the triple tipped pass against Georgia and the field goal return against Alabama. Arizona may be riding the wave Auburn did a year ago.

15

Texas A&M

5-1

L: #15 Mississippi State 31-48

8

The game was not as close as the score would indicate.

16

Nebraska

5-1

L:#6 Michigan State 22-27

13

Made the game with Michigan State interesting in the 4th quarter before falling short.

17

Kansas State

4-1

W: Texas Tech 45-13

18

Jake Waters threw for 290 yards and ran for another 105. Now Kansas State faces Oklahoma a week after they lost, could be bad timing for the Wildcats.

18

UCLA

4-1

L: Utah 28-30

10

Brett Hundley is a junior and has been sacked 105 times since he came to UCLA, most of any quarterback during that span. UCLA needs to get back to basics with their blocking schemes and Hundley needs to learn how to unload the football.

19

Missouri

4-1

Idle

20

Missouri is the only undefeated team left in the SEC East in Conference play as everyone around them seemed to lose. One of the most productive idle weeks ever.

20

Stanford

3-2

L: #16 Notre Dame 14-17

7

How a 6'6" tight end gets lost in the corner of the end zone on 4th down is a mystery and will haunt this coaching staff for some time.

21

East Carolina

4-1

W: SMU 45-24

24

Justin Hardy caught 120 yards and 3 touchdowns from Shane Cardin. Cardin threw for 410 yards and 4 touchdowns himself. They are the best QB-WR combo in the nation over the last three seasons.

22

Oklahoma State

4-1

W: Iowa State 37-20

25

Again, the only loss for Oklahoma State was against Florida State in their opener. The Cowboys are quietly plodding along piling up wins.

23

Arizona State

4-1

W: #19 USC 38-34

31

Maybe this miracle finish will let people realize what draftsite.com has said all along...Jaelen Strong is the best wide receiver in the country.

24

Clemson

3-2

W: NC State 41-0

27

A pair of starts for freshman phenom Deshaun Watson have resulted in a pair of wins and 10 touchdowns (8 in the air and a pair on the ground). This team is very dangerous and nobody wants to face them right now.

25

Washington

4-1

Idle

26

Travel to Cal this week, a team with their only loss being on a Hail Mary against Arizona. This will be a tough game and one that should be on your radar to watch.

26

Georgia Tech

5-0

W: Miami 28-17

30

Georgia Tech isn't racking up style points for their wins but they are getting it done.

27

Iowa

4-1

Idle

28

Right behind surprise leader Northwestern in the West Division of the Big Ten.

28

Louisville

5-1

W: Syracuse 28-6

29

Big game with Clemson this week will test this defense and see if they are at the elite level.

29

USC

3-2

L: #31 Arizona State 34-38

19

USC had the numbers when defending the Hail Mary but the players were waiting for the ball to come to them. Coaches all around the country should practice defending the Hail Mary because it has bitten a too many teams recently.

30

LSU

4-2

L: #5 Auburn 7-41

17

LSU has lost more players to the NFL Draft then any other over the last three years and it's starting to show. This looks like a year for the Tigers to "restock".

31

Duke

4-1

Idle

32

On the road against undefeated Georgia Tech this week, a huge ACC game.

32

Utah

4-1

W: #10 UCLA 30-28

NR

Utah is very close to being unbeaten and the switch to Kendal Thompson at quarterback was a bold move that looks like it paid off against UCLA.

33

Oregon State

4-1

W: Colorado 36-31

36

Good to see Sean Mannion bounce back after one of his worst games at Oregon State with an efficient win in a tight game.

34

Virginia Tech

4-2

W: North Carolina 34-17

35

Nothing like controlling the football as Virginia Tech held the ball 41 minutes against North Carolina.

35

Florida

3-1

W: Tennessee 10-9

33

Florida did just enough to win against Kentucky and Tennessee.

36

Marshall

5-0

W: Old Dominion 56-14

38

Game against Old Dominion was supposed to be tighter, this team may have a better defense then we have given them credit for.

37

BYU

4-1

L: Utah State 20-35

22

Hopefully losing Taysom Hill for the season does not end BYU's campaign.

38

Wisconsin

3-2

L: Northwestern 14-20

23

Melvin Gordon tried to be a one man show against Northwestern and nearly succeeded.

39

Minnesota

4-1

Idle

40

Faces a red hot Northwestern team next week.

40

Kentucky

4-1

W: #21 South Carolina 45-38

NR

Only loss thus far was to Florida in overtime.

Dropped Out: South Carolina, Maryland.
