Heisman Watch 2016: Week 3

1. Lamar Jackson – QB Louisville: 50-82 61.0% 913 yards 8 TD 2 INT 49 carries 464 yards 9.5 YPC 10 TD. LW 1.

There is little doubt now as we finally have a player seperating themselves from the pack. We said Florida State game was the big test...we just weren't expecting an A+.

J.T. Barrett – QB Ohio State: 49-73 67.1% 650 yards 10 TD 1 INT 39 carries 159 yards 4.1 YPC 3 TD. LW 2.

Throwing for 4 touchdowns while not committing a turnover agtainst Oklahoma...solid performance.

3. Christian McCaffrey- RB Stanford: 52 carries 291 yards 5.6 YPC 3 TD 11 catches 113 yards 10.0 YPC 1 TD. LW 4.

McCaffrey moves up a bit after handling the ball nearly 40 times and scoring twice against USC.

4. Donnell Pumphrey – RB San Diego State: 73 carries 599 yards 8.2 YPC 7 TD 9 catches 67 yards  0 TD LW 9.

Two games in a row over 200 yards is ensuring Pumphrey is flying up the list.

5. Jabrill Peppers – S/RB/KR/PR Michigan: 29 tackles 9.5 TFL 2.5 sacks 3 quarterback hurries 1 FF 2 carries 24 yards 8 PR 173 21.6 YPR 1 TD 2 KR 81 yards 40.5 YPR . LW NR.

Peppers is a sophomoire who leads his team in tackles, tackles for loss as well as all purpose yards on offense, that's amazing.

6 Greg Ward Jr. – QB Houston: 47-72 65.2% 321 yards 3 TD 2 INT 44 carries 72 yards 2 TD. LW 3.

It hasn't been without a bit of struggling in the red zone, but Ward is still getting it done as Houston looks to crash the BCS party the big boys usually attend.

7. Kalen Ballege – RB Arizona State: 37 carries 255 yards 6.9 YPC 9 TD 9 catches 130 yards 14.4 YPC 1 TD LW 7.

Balledge is not the primary ball carrier alone for Arizona State but when the Sun Devils needed a winning touchdown late they went to the man they know can find the end zone.

8. Steven Taylor – LB Houston: 21 tackles 6 TFL 6 sacks 2 quarterback hurries 1 INT 74 yards 1 TD 1 FF. LW NR.

Leads the Cougars in tacklesd while leading the FBS in sacks. Taylor is flying around the football and helping his draft stock for 2017.

9 Patrick Mahomes II – QB Texas Tech: 94-132 71.2% 1,493 yards 14 TD 2 INT 33 carries 138 yards 4.2 YPC 4 TD. LW NR.

Mahomes is putting up monster stats on a mediocre team but he is carrying the Red Raiders. While they may not win a ton of games they will be competitive in nearly all of them and Mahomes is the reason why.

10. Nick Chubb- RB Georgia: 71 carries 365 yards 5.1 YPC 3 TD. LW 5.

Chubb has slowed down his pace a bit after the big opening game against North Carolina. rest assureed we will hear more from Chubb as SEC play gets going.

Honorable Mention: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson;  Marcus Cox, RB, Appalachian State; Jake Butt, TE, Michigan and Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M.
