3

It took only  one week for the Tide to ascend to a very familiar place.

2

Ohio State 1-0 W:Indiana 49-21 1

The Buckeyes were losing at halftime and it took awhile to kick the rust off the offense.

3

Clemson 1-0 W:Kent State 56-3 5

Yes it was Kent State but Clemson was dangerously efficient. 43 carries for 353 yards as Clemson had four people rush for between 50 and 90 yards...a true team effort.

4

USC 1-0 W: Western Michigan 49-31 4

This game was tied going to the 4th but it looked like this had more to do with Western Michigan being better then everyone was giving them credit for.

5

Penn State 1-0 W:Akron 52-0 7

Saquon Barkley putting an early bid in for some Heisman hardware.

6

Washington 1-0 W: Rutgers 30-14 6

Special Teams and Dante Pettis stepping up in a big way on a night when the Huskies couldn't get the running game going.

7

Oklahoma 1-0 W:UTEP 56-7 8

Lincoln Riley off to a fast start as Oklahoma did whatever it wanted to on offnese. Mark Andrews will show the nation that he is the top tight end in the country.

8

Wisconsin 1-0 W:Utah State 59-10 10

The Badgers spotted Utah State 10 points and then put the hammer down.

9

Michigan 1-0 W:#20 Florida 33-17 12

Getting 6 sacks on Gator quarterbacks showed the Wolverine defense still has teeth even after all their losses on the defensive side of the ball from last years squad.

10

Oklahoma State 1-0 W:Tulsa 59-24 11

Rudolph to Washington...get ready to hear that combo a lot this season.

11

Louisville

1-0 W:Purdue 9

485 yards for the Lamar Jackson show but a lowly Purdue team hanging with Louisville has to be concerning.

12

Florida State 0-1 L:#3 Alabama 7-24 2

The Seminoles managed just 40 yards on the ground against Alabama and the deepest defensive line in the country.

13

Auburn 1-0 W:Georgia Southern 41-7 13

351 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground but Auburn mixed in enough of the passing game to come off as balanced and effective.

14

Stanford 1-0 W:Rice 62-7 14

Just total decimation,,,it looked like Stanford was playing a JV team.

15

Georgia 0-0 W:Appalachian State 15

A solid win for Georgia but at what cost...the jury is out on the injury to quarterback Jacob Eason.

16

Miami 1-0 W:Bethune-Cookman 41-13 16

Miami shows that having the only returning 1,000 yard rusher in the ACC can be a big deal.

17

LSU 1-0 W:#29 BYU 18

LSU blanked a ranked squad and held them to -5 yards rushing...who says defense doesn't win games anymore.

18

South Florida 2-0 W:Stony Brook 31-17 17

South Florida has yet to really break out but a 2-0 start is still as good as you could help.

19

TCU 1-0 W:Jackson State 63-0 23

Jackson State allowed the horned Frogs to put it on cruise control, the same can not be said with the upcoming contest against Arkansas.

20

Colorado 1-0 W:Colorado State 17-3 21

The Colorado defense is looking stingy again.

21

Tennessee 1-0 W:#32 Georgia Tech 42-41 2OT 24

The Colorado defense is looking stingy again.

22

Arkansas 1-0 W: Florida A&M 49-7 26

Showdown with TCU looms large for both clubs.

23

Maryland 1-0 W: #22 Texas 51-41 NR

Maryland was supposed to be a "team for the future" after another outstanding recruiting effort...looks like the future is now.

24

Oregon 1-0 W:Southern Utah 77-21 27

Royce Freeman with 4 touchdowns and over 200 yards of offnese as the Ducks show they can score as much as their basketball team.

25

Virginia Tech 1-0 W:#19 West Virginia 31-24 NR

Josh Jackson looked like an all-world quarterback against West Virginia showing a ton of poise and maturity.

26

Washington State 1-0 W:Montana State 31-0 31

The Cougars had lost their last five openers in a row, so even a win against an FCS opponenet here is big.

27

Boise State 1-0 W:Troy 24-13 33

Great performance against a solid Troy football team.

28

Kansas State 1-0 W:Central Arkansas 55-19 36

An efficient performance while registering a +3 in the turnover department.

29 West Virginia 0-1

L:Virginia Tech 24-31

19

An efficient performance while registering a +3 in the turnover department.

Notre Dame 1-0 W:Temple 49-16 NR

Opener went about as well as it could have for Notre Dame, especially their defense.

31

Florida 0-1 L:#12 Michigan 17-33 20

Lots of mistakes to clean up, even with missing a ton of players.

32

UCLA 1-0 W:#28 Texas A&M 45-44 34

So this is why we have talked about Josh Rosen ever since he came to UCLA.

33

Georgia Tech 0-1 L:#24 Tennessee 41-42 2OT 32

Over 530 yards rushing and you lose.....that's a first.

34

Memphis 1-0 W:Louisiana-Monroe 37-29 30

The Tigers didn't exactly come blazing out of the gate to start 2017 but they got the victory.

35

Iowa 1-0 W:#39 Wyoming 24-3 40

The Hawkeyes shut down star quarterback Josh Allen.

36

Western Kentucky 1-0 W:Eastern Kentucky 31-17 35

Jury is still out on the defense but overall not a bad start for the Hilltoppers.

South Carolina 1-0 W:#25 NC State 35-28 NR

So much talk surrounding the defenisve line of NC State that many overlooked the Gamecocks.

38

Northwestern 1-0 W:Nevada 31-20 38

This game hung in the balance for awhile, it's a win but Northwestern failed to impress anybody.

39

BYU 1-1 L:#18 LSU 0-27 29

The Cougars won't have long to regroup with #40 Utah coming to town.

40

Utah 1-0 W:North Dakota 37-16 NR

North Dakota is not a pushover FCS school so this was a strong showing.

Dropped Out: Texas, NC State, Baylor, Texas A&M and Wyoming.
