Heisman Watch 2017: Week1

 

1. Lamar Jackson – QB Louisville: 30-46 65.2% 378 yards 2 TD 0 INT 21 carries 107 yards 5.1 YPC. LW 1.

Jackson had 485 yards of offense as Louisville had to play till the end against the Boilermakers

 

2. Baker Mayfield – QB Oklahoma: 19-20 95.0% 329 yards 3TD 0 INT. LW 3.

Nothing like completing 95% on your passes to open the season. If Oklahoma can pull the upset against Ohio State this week Mayfield could move to the front of the pack.

 

3. Saquon Barkley – RB Penn State: 14 carries 172 yards 12.3 YPC 2 TD 3 catches 54 yards 18.0 YPC 0 TD. LW 4.

Barkley had over 220 yards in only 20 touches.

 

4. J.T. Barrett – QB Ohio State: 20-35 57.1% 304 yards 3 TD 0 INT 13 carries 61 yards 5.0 YPC 1 TD. LW 5.

Barrett let his experience show in the second half when the Buckeyes pulled away from Indiana.

 

6. Royce Freeman – RB Oregon: 23 carries 150 yards 6.5 YPC 4 TD 4 catches 50 yards . LW 9.

Triumphant return from injury.

 

7.  Bryce Love - RB Stanford:  13 carries 180 yards 13.8 YPC 1 TD  LW NR.

A Stanford running back getting Heisman love, stop me when you've heard this one before.

 

8. Mason Rudolph – QB Oklahoma State: 20-24 83.3% 303 yards 3 TD 0 INT 1 rushing TD.  LW 10.

A standard day at the office for the nations best senior quarterback.

 

9. Quinton Flowers – QB South Florida: 30-55 54.5% 397 yards 4 TD 1 INT 36 carries 137 yards  1 TD.  LW 6.

Flowers is saving the monster performances for the tougher opponents.

 

10.  Mark Walton - RB Miami:  16 carries 148 yards 9.3 YPC 2 TD  LW NR.

The lone returning 1,000 yard rusher in the ACC gets off to a great start while the conference sputters.

 

Honorable Mention:   Sam Darnold, QB, USC;  James Washington  WR, Oklahoma State; Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA and Jake Browning, QB, Washington.
