Heisman Watch 2017: Week 6

 

1. Saquon Barkley – RB Penn State: 102 carries 649 yards 6.4 YPC 6 TD 29 catches 395 yards 13.6 YPC 2 TD 8 KR 258 yards 32.3 YPR 1 TD 1-1 16 yards 1 passing TD. LW 1.

10 touchdowns and the most versitle back at the NCAA level has Barkley in the lead, one which now widens after Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma lost.

 

2. Luke Falk – QB Washington State: 188-262 71.8% 2,000 yards 19 TD 2 INT.  LW 3.

Falk is looking like he will need to book a flight to New York in December.

 

3. Bryce Love – RB Stanford: 188 carries 1,240 yards 10.5 YPC 9 TD. LW 4.

Love has a 247 yard lead in the NCAA rushing race and remains the only back with over 1,000 yards on the ground this season.

 

4. Baker Mayfield – QB Oklahoma: 100-134 74.6% 1,635 yards 15 TD 0 INT. LW 2.

It was a loss for the Sooners but Mayfield still has yet to throw a pick on the year and is not out of the running.

 

5. Rashaad Penny – RB San Diego State: 143 carries 993 yards 6.9 YPC 9 TD 16 catches 127 yards 2 TD 6 KR 203 yards 33.8 YPK 1 TD.. LW 7.

Penny has San Diego State making a serious run at a bCS Bowl birth.

 

6. Lamar Jackson – QB Louisville: 138-222 62.2% 1,990 yards 14 TD 4 INT 91 carries 510 yards 5.6 YPC 7 TD. LW 5.

Played relatively well against NC State but an early second loss for Louisville spells certain doom for Jackson's quest for back-to-back Heisman's.

 

7. Mason Rudolph – QB Oklahoma State: 117-173 67.6% 1,909 yards 16 TD 4 INT 5 rushing TD.  LW 6.

Mason Rudolph could wind up the big winner at the quarterback spot in the upcoming NFL Draft.

 

8. Jonathan Taylor – RB Wisconsin: 97 carries 767 yards 7.9 YPC 9 TD. LW NR.

The freshman running back has a pair of 200 yards games to his credit and has emerged as the badger workhorse.

 

9.  Dante Pettis - WR/PR Washington:  37 catches 416 yards 11.2 YPC 6 TD  9 PR 286 yards 31.8 YPR 3 TD 1/1 passing 36 yards. LW 8.

Top receving and return threat for the undefeated Fighting Irish.

 

10. Josh Adams – RB Notre Dame: 86 carries 776 yards 9.0 YPC 5 TD. LW NR.

The most consistent offensive threat on the improved Fighting Irish squad.

 

Honorable Mention:   Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA;  Cam Phillips  WR, Virginia Tech; Ed Oliver, DT, Houston; Micah Kiser, LB, Virginia and Jake Browning, QB, Washington.
