by DJ Boyer on Sep. 10, 2018

Fierce 40 2018 - Top 40 College Football Teams - Week 2

Alabama 2-0 W: Arkansas State 57-7 2

Both quarterbacks playing well for Alabama right now as they take over the top spot.

Clemson 2-0 W: at #29 Texas A&M 28-26 1

Clemson with a cautionary tale of why you put teams away and don't let them hang around. It almost cost the Tigers this game as the vaunted defense surrendered 501 yards.

Wisconsin 2-0 W: New Mexico 45-14 3

New Mexico marched down the field and scored on their opening drive but Wisconsin settled in and Jonathan Taylor took over.

Georgia 2-0 W: at #25 South Carolina 41-17 4

This was a tight game for the first half. Georgia just showed too much depth in the second half and trashed a winded defense.

Ohio State 2-0 W: Rutgers 52-3 5

Dwayne Haskins is looking the part so far.

Auburn 2-0 W: Alabama State 63-9 6

Auburn scored the first 42 points of the game, all you need to know here.

Oklahoma 2-0 W: UCLA 49-21 7

The loss of running back Rodney Anderson for the year makes this game feel more like a loss.

Virginia Tech 2-0 W: William & Mary 62-17 8

Could this be the team to beat in the ACC?

Stanford 2-0 W: #19 USC 17-3 9

Good playcalling for Stanford as they made this game look easy against an improved USC defense.

LSU 2-0 W; Southeastern Louisiana 31-0 10

Tiger nation was upset they only put up 31 points. Ed, it's a difficult fan base to please.

11 Washington 1-1 W: North Dakota 45-3

Don't let the fact that this was against an FCS opponent get to you, North Dakota is a quality team.

Oregon 2-0 W: Portland State 62-14 12

Impressive mixture of pass/run for Oregon as they look to be the real deal.

Penn State 2-0 W: at Pitt 51-6 14

Penn State turned it up a notch in the second half.

Mississippi State 2-0 W: at Kansas State 31-10 15

Ran right through the Kansas State defense.

Notre Dame 2-0 W: Ball State 24-16 13

Either the Irish were looking ahead or that Michigan game took a lot out of them because they were out of sorts against Ball State.

Boise State 2-0 W: UConn 62-7 16

No turnovers for Boise State through their first two games.

Miami 1-1 W: Savannah State 77-0 18

78 yards of offense and 5 first downs for Savannah State.

West Virginia 2-0 W: Youngstown State 52-17 20

West Virginia disposes of the physical FCS Penguins that hung around early.

Arizona State 2-0 W: #15 Michigan State 16-13 NR

It looks like Herm Edwards hasn't lost his coaching knack after all.

Oklahoma State 2-0 W: South Alabama 55-13 22

Over 600 yards of offense and a potential star in receiver Tylan Wallace for the Cowboys.

TCU 2-0 W: at SMU 42-12 21

It's a win for TCU but this game was closer than the score indicates.

Michigan 1-1 W: Western Michigan 49-3 23

Shea Patterson looked comfortable at quarterback.

Kentucky 2-0 W:#24 Florida 27-16 NR

Benny Snell is a running back we all be hearing more about.

USC 1-1 L: at #9 Stanford 3-17 17

The Sam Darnold hangover has started.

Iowa 1-0 W: #39 Iowa State 13-3 26

Doesn't seem like a big win but Iowa State had won 2 of the last 3 in Iowa.

Michigan State 1-1 L: Arizona State 13-16 17

Michigan State barely escaped against Utah State with a win in week 1, maybe this team isn't as good as we all thought.

Texas A&M 1-1 L: #1 Clemson 26-28 29

Yes the Aggies lost and still moved up. They were a 2-point conversion away from taking Clemson to OT.

Missouri 2-0 W: Wyoming 40-13 28

Missouri 33 first downs and Wyoming 15....thats sums up how this game went.

UCF 2-0 W; South Carolina State 38-0 34

15 wins in a row for the Knights and they are making it look easy regardless of who the competition is.

South Carolina` 1-1 L: #4 Georgia 41-17 25

Just overmatched by a better team although it was respectable against the 'Dawgs.

Maryland 2-0 W: at Bowling Green 45-14 31

Maryland got things cranked up in the second half although Bowling Green can be a stingy team.

South Florida 2-0 W:#34 Georgia Tech 49-38 NR

A pair of return touchdowns i the first half...that's a way to make your opponent feel defeated immediately.

Florida State 1-1 W: Samford 36-26 30

Florida State entered the 4th quarter trailing Samford.

Houston 2-0 W: Arizona 45-18 35

Khalil Tate was dared to throw the football as Houston took his rushing ability away for most of the game.

Florida 1-1 L: Kentucky 16-27 24

Florida and Texas continue to be traditional football powerhouses that just can't get it figured out.

Appalachian State 1-1 W: at Charlotte 45-9 36

Good to see last weeks loss in Penn State after being so close didn't affect the Mountaineers.

Ole Miss 2-0 W: Southern Illinois 37

Another team that was trailing at halftime to an overmatched opponent.

Utah 2-0 W: at Northern Illinois 17-6 NR

Not an easy place to play and Utah came up big when they needed to.

Boston College 2-0 W: Holy Cross 62-14 NR

A.J. Dillon gets three rushing TD's...in the first quarter.

Wake Forest 2-0 W:Towson 51-20 38

Greg Dortsch did it all for the Demon Decons with a touchdown catch and a pair of punts he took to the house.

Dropped Out: Northwestern, Iowa State, Memphis, Georgia Tech and Fresno State.
