Heisman Watch: Week 4

1. Marcus Mariota – QB Oregon: 71-96 74.0% 1,135 yards 13 touchdowns 0 interceptions 33 carries 214 yards 6.5 YPC 3 TD rushing LW #1
16 touchdowns (13 passing and 3 rushing) with 0 interceptions and a 74.0 completion percentage. Is there any question as to why Mariota is #1?

2. Ameer Abdullah – RB Nebraska: 92 carries 625 yards 6.8 YPC 5 TD 5 Catches 108 yards 1 TD. LW #6
Just talked last week about Abdullah needing a big performance against Miami. 229 yards and 2 touchdowns qualifies as a big game. Most importantly Nebraska scored the victory.

3. Kenny Hill – QB Texas A&M: 97-139 69.8% 1,359 yards 13 TD 1 INT 14 carries 106 yards 7.6 YPC. LW #2
Continues to show tremendous poise in leading Texas A&M into SEC contention.

4. Amari Cooper – WR Alabama: 43 catches 655 yards 5 TD. LW #9
Cooper now leads the NCAA in receiving and his 10 catch 201 yard 3 touchdown performance against Florida ensures he is a serious contender for the hardware.

5. Shane Carden – QB East Carolina: 111-178 62.4% 1,469 yards 11 TD 3 INT 3 rushing TD’s. LW NR
A respectable showing against South Carolina and back-to-back wins against the ACC with Virginia Tech and North Carolina has vaulted Carden into the discussion.

6. Jameis Winston – QB Florida State: 47-67 626 yards 70.1% 3 TD 2 INT 1 rushing TD. LW #3
Had Florida State lost against Clemson it may have dropped Winston from the discussion altogether. Now he gets to show his worth as the Seminoles almost lost as he had to watch from the sideline for disciplinary reasons.

7. D.J. Foster – RB Arizona State: 54 carries catches 510 yards 5 TD 9.4 YPC 11 catches 131 yards 1 TD. LW #4
An off week for Foster but the upcoming game with UCLA on Thursday will define his campaign.

8. Todd Gurley – RB Georgia: 41carries 402 yards 9.8 YPC 4 TD’s and a 100-yard kickoff return TD. LW #5
Quiet week as Georgia routed Troy and Gurley hit the showers early.

9. Everett Golson – QB Notre Dame: 62-96 521 yards 64.6% 7 TD 0 INT 29 carries 82 yards 4 rushing TD LW #7
Bye week for Golson as he continues to lead the undefeated Irish.

10. James Conner – RB Pittsburgh: 110 carries 699 yards 5.3 YPC 9 TD. LW #8
Pitt lost against Iowa but Conner contributed 155 yards and a touchdown as he now leads the NCAA in rushing.

Honorable Mention: Taysom Hill QB BYU; Rakeem Cato, QB, Marshall; Rashad Greene, WR, Florida State; Sean Mannion QB Oregon State.
