Heisman Watch: Week 8

1. Dak Prescott – QB Mississippi State: 96-156 61.5% 1,478 yards 14 TD 4 INT 106 carries 576 yards 6.0 YPC 8 TD 2 catches 35 yards 1 TD. LW 1.

A week off with Kentucky, Arkansas and Tenn-Martin on the horizon. Prescott could sit atop the standings for awhile.

2. Marcus Mariota - QB Oregon: 132-188 70.2% 1,957 yards 19 touchdowns 0 interceptions 56 carries 289 yards 7.0 YPC 5 TD rushing 1 catch 26 yards 1 TD. LW 2.

Mariotta had another big game behind his improved offensive line. That 0 in the interception column speaks volumes.

3. Melvin Gordon – RB Wisconsin: 132 carries 1,046 yards 8.2 YPC 13 TD 1 receiving TD. LW 4.

Maryland game at home will be a tough test for Gordon, we'll see how he responds.

4. Ameer Abdullah - RB Nebraska: 161 carries 1,024 yards 6.5 YPC 14 TD 11 catches 143 yards 2 TD. LW 5.

Abdullah in the midst of playing some easier teams where he can dominate and pile up the statistics.

5. Jameis Winston – QB Florida State: 149-211 70.6% 1,878 yards 13 TD 6 INT 2 rushing TD. LW 7.

Still getting some Heisman love here although his off the field antics will make it virtually impossible to repeat.

6. Shane Carden – QB East Carolina: 166-252 65.9% 2,129 yards 16 TD 4 INT 3 rushing TD’s. LW 6.

Has all the intangables to be a very good leader at the next level.

7. Everett Golson – QB Notre Dame: 135-216 62.5% 1,683 yards 16 TD 4 INT 58 carries 209 yards 5.1 YPC 4 rushing TD. LW 3.

Had Notre Dame won this game he would probably still be top three or at least in the top five.

8. Hau'oli Kikaha – DE Washington: 44 total tackles 15.5 TFL 12.5 sacks 2 FF 1 fumble recovery. LW 8.

Fierce player who may be hurt because he has two other stellar defenders on his team in Danny Shelton and Shaq Thompson.

9. Rakeem Cato – QB Marshall: 119-204 58.3% 1,912 yards 19 TD 6 INT 37 carries 223 yards 7.1 YPC 5 TD. LW 9.

Four touchdown performance ensures Cato is still relavent.

10. Cody Kessler - QB USC: 162-233 58.3% 1,884 yards 18 TD 1 INT 2 rushing TD.. LW NR.

Quietly putting up monster numbers with balance and a fellow candidate at running back in Buck Allen.

Honorable Mention: Zack Sanchez, CB, Oklahoma; Buck Allen, RB, USC; Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor; Anu Solomon, QB, Arizona; Shane Ray, DE, Missouri.
