warhorse_96's 2018 NFL Mock Draft Picks - Last updated: 04-24-2018

Rnd. ▴ Pick   Team Player Pos. School
1 1Cleveland ClevelandSam Darnold QB USC
warhorse_96's comments: The Browns new Front office is not a bunch of random morons thrown together, like in years prior. Dorsey, Wolf, Berry and Highsmith know that they need a Franchise QB, and Tyrod Taylor is not that QB. Enter Sam Darnold, who many (not I), view as the QB1 of this draft class.
1 2NY Giants NY GiantsSaquon Barkley RB Penn State
warhorse_96's comments: Darnold is gone, and the Giants will do one of three options: Barkley, Chubb, or Trade Down with (Drum ROll please)... Buffalo (I know a shock). This comes down to what do the Giants value more elite player or picks. In this case, I say they go with the best Prospect in the draft, and give Eli some damn help already.
1 3NY Jets NY JetsBaker Mayfield QB Oklahoma
warhorse_96's comments: This is a QB. God help the Jets if they screw up and draft Bradley Chubb (the fan base will riot and burn buildings). "Broadway Baker". Why? Baker Mayfield? Because Coach Todd Bowles has all but name dropped the QB when talking to the media about what he wants in a QB. Baker is accuracy and leadership defined, which is what the Jets have been dying to find since Joe Namath made a deal with the devil and traded in the franchise for a Super Bowl III win.
1 4Cleveland ClevelandBradley Chubb DE NC State
warhorse_96's comments: Myles Garrett and Bradley Chubb. Enough said.
1 5Denver DenverQuenton Nelson OG Notre Dame
warhorse_96's comments: Now we start seeing the draft play out. Rosen, Allen and Mayfield. All available, all at Denver's fingertips, and John Elway has to love it. The real question is whether or not the Broncos have given up on Paxton Lynch. I say no. Lynch has had some opportunity, but the sample size just is not there. Add to that the Denver's offensive line hasn't exactly been the best, plus they haven't had a half-decent running back. Getting Nelson would be the right steps into finding out whether or not the Broncos have a QB or if they are SOL until next draft.
1 6Indianapolis IndianapolisDenzel Ward CB Ohio State
warhorse_96's comments: No Chubb, No Barkley, No Nelson. Does Indy take and L with their trade with the Jets? No. The top end of this draft is loaded with premium talent, and the Colts also need a Corner with Vontae Davis now gone. Denzel Ward is the best available, so it is only fitting to grab n go with the OSU star.
1 7Tampa Bay Tampa BayDerwin James S Florida State
warhorse_96's comments: Derwin James is the best DB/S in the draft. Tampa needs back end help in their secondary, and this just makes sense.
1 8Chicago ChicagoMinkah Fitzpatrick CB Alabama
warhorse_96's comments: Bears need secondary help on the back-end, and with Derwin James gone a pick before, Minkah Fitzpatrick is the best choice.
1 9San Francisco San FranciscoRoquan Smith ILB Georgia
warhorse_96's comments: The 49ers just miss out on Minkah Fitzpatrick, who is reportedly their top target at 9. The next best option is to address the sudden need at ILB, after the arrest of Reuben Foster, and Roquan Smith is arguably the best option in this draft. If you need any further explanation as to why they go with Smith, look no further than the highlight reel he put up against Oklahoma and Baker Mayfield.
1 10Oakland OaklandMarcus Davenport DE UTSA
warhorse_96's comments: The Raiders would be smart to do one of two things: Draft a WR or draft a bookend for Khalil Mack. Here they do that in Marcus Davenport. Explosive, twitchy, fast, Jon Gruden's kind of rusher.
1 11Miami MiamiTremaine Edmunds OLB Virginia Tech
warhorse_96's comments: Miami reportedly loves Roquan Smith, but he's not going to make it out of the top 10. Miami could go DT here and take Vita Vea, but I think they'll grab one of the top EDGE players in this draft.
1 12Buffalo BuffaloJosh Rosen QB UCLA
warhorse_96's comments: Buffalo get's the QB they want, and they don't have to give up the Kingdom. Josh Rosen slides for two reasons: Character concerns and Medical Concerns. I don't see much stock in the character concerns, he should be able to speak his mind, but it's not viewed as a desireable trait of a locker room leader, and his concussion history scares some teams off. If Rosen plays out, this will be the steal of draft night.
1 13Washington WashingtonVita Vea DT Washington
warhorse_96's comments: The Redskins could use a legitimate run stuffer in the middle, and there is no one better than Vita Vea in this draft.
1 14Green Bay Green BayJaire Alexander CB Louisville
warhorse_96's comments: Is this a reach? Maybe, but after trading Damarious Randall to the Browns, the Packers need a CB.
1 15Arizona ArizonaJosh Allen QB Wyoming
warhorse_96's comments: The Cardinals get the biggest Wildcard QB in the draft and hopefully their future at the position. Why does Allen fall so far in this draft? Easy, I don't trust his decision making. Maybe if he sits a year, the Cardinals can correct this, but Allen could turn out to be the next big thing, or the next big bust.
1 16Baltimore BaltimoreCalvin Ridley WR Alabama
warhorse_96's comments: Ozzie Newsome is a Built by Bama guy. he likes to take players from his Alma Matter, and it just so happens that they need a WR, and there is no better Wideout in this draft than Calvin Ridley.
1 17LA Chargers LA ChargersDa'Ron Payne DT Alabama
warhorse_96's comments: Payne has climbed boards all offseason, and The Chargers need an interior lineman to plug the middle.
1 18Seattle SeattleMike McGlinchey OT Notre Dame
warhorse_96's comments: So many needs, so little picks, what do the SeaHawks do? They need a CB after blowing up the LOB, they've needed a WR for years, they need an OL and RB. It's a miracle that Seattle has been winning, but that's what you get with a Russell Wilson at QB. The SeaHawks will go with McGlinchey here as they need to protect WIlson better, and they can address the other positions later, as they have proven to be adept at doing so, unlike the OL issue they fail to remedy.
1 19Dallas DallasD.J. Moore WR Maryland
warhorse_96's comments: Dez Bryant has left the Building, and Dallas needs a new Number 1. From what I've read, if Dallas goes WR, it's likely to be D.J. Moore.
1 20Detroit DetroitJosh Jackson CB Iowa
warhorse_96's comments: Detroit went after Malcolm Butler in FA, but failed to land him, so I believe they'll go with Josh Jackson to work across Darius Slay in their Secondary.
1 21Cincinnati CincinnatiJames Daniels OC Iowa
warhorse_96's comments: Cincy needs offensive linemen, in particular a Center, and that's what they get here.
1 22Buffalo BuffaloBilly Price OG Ohio State
warhorse_96's comments: Protect Josh Rosen at all costs. That's what this pick will be and Billy Price was once viewed as the top OG/C prospect before his injury, and Buffalo gets him here.
1 23New England New EnglandMason Rudolph QB Oklahoma State
warhorse_96's comments: New England is a mess. No backup/heir apparent at QB, no defense (at all), and Gronk might be out the door if reports are true. What to do here? Go get the heir to Tom Brady: Mason Rudolph. Rudolph has silently, but surely risen up draft boards as of late, and while it's reported that New England has considered Josh Rosen and/Lamar Jackson, Rudolph fits the bill for Emperor Palpatine's (I meant Bill Belichick), Offense.
1 24Carolina CarolinaCourtland Sutton WR SMU
warhorse_96's comments: No thanks to David Gettleman (now gone), the Panthers have failed to address their OL, DB, and WR over the past few drafts. They got lucky and had Funchess pan out, but that's been one yera and Kelvin Benjamin was traded away, which I still contend was a dumb idea. The Panthers will go with Sutton to pair with Funchess, and hope to high heaven that it works out.
1 25Tennessee TennesseeHarold Landry DE Boston College
warhorse_96's comments: The Titans grab Harold Landry to act as the future of their EDGE rusher after Brian Orakpo hits FA next year. Orakpo is 32 and this presents itself as a can't pass up opportunity to secure the future of the position
1 26Atlanta AtlantaTaven Bryan DT Florida
warhorse_96's comments: Bryan has reportedly been on the Falcons hit list for quite some time, and I believe they'll get their man.
1 27New Orleans New OrleansLamar Jackson QB Louisville
warhorse_96's comments: All hail Lamar Jackson Heir Apparent to Drew Brees. Eventually NOLA was going to have to address this and Lamar Jackson fits Sean Peyton's scheme like a glove. He can sit for a year or two, learn the ins and outs, and learn from Brees, before taking the reins and leading the team.
1 28Pittsburgh PittsburghRashaan Evans ILB Alabama
warhorse_96's comments: Pittsburgh need to find a replacement for Ryan Shazier, who unfortunately, for his own safety, should never play football again. Evans will fill that gap, and Pittzburgh won't regret the move.
1 29Jacksonville JacksonvilleHayden Hurst TE South Carolina
warhorse_96's comments: The Jaguars could use a TE, WR and ILB. At 29, with the top wideouts gone, I think they grab Hayden Hurst to act as Blake Bortles Safety Net up the middle.
1 30Minnesota MinnesotaWill Hernandez OG UTEP
warhorse_96's comments: Kirk Cousins just got a FAT contract from Minnesota, and they have a glaring need at guard to fill. Enter Will Henandez, who is a good option late in the first round.
1 31New England New EnglandKolton Miller OT UCLA
warhorse_96's comments: While New England really needs to address their Defense, Nate Solder needs to be replaced, as he left for New York this offseason. Enter Kolton Miller who will be a slight notch below plug and play.
1 32Philadelphia PhiladelphiaSam Hubbard DE Ohio State
warhorse_96's comments: All hail the champs. Philly finally won a SB and thusly, have killed an entire meme stash. In all seriousness, well deserved. But Philly is not without their weaknesses, as they need DL and CB help, as exhibited by the acqusitions and of Michael Bennett and (now released), Daryl Worthy. At 32, the Eagles will go with Sam Hubbard to ease one of these areas of need.
