2017 NFL Mock Draft : Version 28

Draft date: April 27th, 2017 @ 10:00 PM, in Philadelphia, PA

Version 28 - Published: April 15, 2017, 9:45 pm

DraftSite's comments: We are not buying the fact that Mitch Trubisky is in play here. Garrett is the best player available and he fills a need for Cleveland. Too much talk regrading whether he is a game changing player. Ask Oakland about young Khalil Mack or Atlanta about Vic Beasley and see whether they feel they are game changing players.

Myles Garrett

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 5

  • Weight

    262

  • School

    Texas A&M

  • Scouting Report

Myles Garrett is one of the best DE's in this draft...

DraftSite's comments: We feel rather confident Thomas is the selection here. The big question is will this be San Francisco selecting at #2. The 49ers seem the most likely candidate of teams selecting in the top 5 that will be looking to move back. Reuben Foster would be the likely target if we see San Fran back up in the order.

Solomon Thomas

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 2

  • Weight

    280

  • School

    Stanford

DraftSite's comments: Jonathan Allen remains a possibility as he seems to be the best player available, long term, right here. Picking a player in the secondary like Adams or Malik Hooker would point more towards a player the Bears can start from Day 1 for an immediate impact.

    United States

  • Height

    6' 0

  • Weight

    215

  • School

DraftSite's comments: Free agency for Jacksonville has focused on the defense. Here Jacksonville gets offensive talent around the maligned Blake Bortles.

Leonard Fournette

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 0

  • Weight

    240

  • School

    LSU

DraftSite's comments: McCourty was given his walking papers by the Titans seemingly to select a corner at the #5 spot overall.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 1

  • Weight

    192

  • School

    Ohio State

DraftSite's comments: A few different players in play here including Malik Hooker and O.J. Howard. Buster Skrine and the newly acquired Morris Claiborne stand as the starting corners right now. Humphrey would see immediate time as the #3 corner.

Marlon Humphrey

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 1

  • Weight

    195

  • School

    Alabama

DraftSite's comments: The long term solution to Eric Weddle could be attained here although if Jonathan Allen is available he would draw consideration.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 2

  • Weight

    205

  • School

    Ohio State

DraftSite's comments: This makes perfect sense for Carolina. It's possible McCaffrey could see more time split out as a receiver than running the football.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    5' 11

  • Weight

    202

  • School

    Stanford

DraftSite's comments: Allen falls right into the laps of the Bengals here. Linebacker is a bigger need but the Bengals will not turn away the talent of Allen.

Jonathan Allen

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 3

  • Weight

    283

  • School

    Alabama

  • Scouting Report

Allen is a proto type new age defensive lineman, able to line up anywhere in a 4/3 scheme and get the job done vs the run or as a pass rusher...

DraftSite's comments: Williams has the been the targets of the Bills in many of our mocks and it continues here.

Mike Williams

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 4

  • Weight

    218

  • School

    Clemson

  • Scouting Report

Williams is one of the elite receivers that could go first off the board...

DraftSite's comments: Defensive end is the biggest need as getting pressure off the edge remains something elusive for the Saints defense. Here with Reuben Foster still on the board the Saints grab the best linebacker in the draft and look at an edge rusher at the end of round 1 or in Round 2. The extra selection at #32 overall allows the Saints more leeway with this pick.

Reuben Foster

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 1

  • Weight

    230

  • School

    Alabama

DraftSite's comments: The Browns get their quarterback and they can afford it with the glaring number of selections they have available.

  • Weight

    225

  • School

    Texas Tech

  • Scouting Report

The son of a former baseball pitcher can throw some fastballs, if any team really needs a good quarterback...

DraftSite's comments: The Eagles would love to see McCaffrey at #14 with their need at running back and his receiving ability. Here with McCaffrey gone the Eagles resist taking Dalvin Cook and hone in on the rising stock of Gareon Conley.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 0

  • Weight

    195

  • School

    Ohio State

DraftSite's comments: Charlton is a big physical defender that would be able to move around the line.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 6

  • Weight

    275

  • School

    Michigan

  • Scouting Report

Charlton has been a backup for his first three years, but easily converted to a starter as a senior...

DraftSite's comments: No bigger need for the Ravens than getting younger on the edge of the defense. Cam Robinson and O.J. Howard are possibilities as they are still on the board here.

Derek Barnett

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 3

  • Weight

    257

  • School

    Tennessee

DraftSite's comments: Seems like a bit of a luxery pick for the Redskins but did anyone really think Matt Jones was the long term answer in the backfield? We didn't either.

Dalvin Cook

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    5' 10

  • Weight

    210

  • School

    Florida State

DraftSite's comments: Tennessee gets the receiver to stretch the defense on a consistent basis as they continue to try and surround Marcus Mariota with playmakers.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    5' 11

  • Weight

    185

  • School

    Washington

DraftSite's comments: You think Jameis Winston won;t be running back to camp if they Bucs get O.J> Howard and Desean Jackson for him to throw to along with Mike Evans?

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 6

  • Weight

    242

  • School

    Alabama

DraftSite's comments: Not the sexy pick the Broncos fans want after missing the playoffs but it is rock solid.

Cam Robinson

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 6

  • Weight

    326

  • School

    Alabama

DraftSite's comments: Watt is moving up a few boards and that last name is not going to hurt his cause.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 3

  • Weight

    250

  • School

    Wisconsin

  • Scouting Report

The youngest of the Watt clan has all sorts of potential to make the big leagues...

DraftSite's comments: Laremy Tunsil will move back out to his natural position at tackle. We feel this is too early for Lamp but he will be in demand and an immediate starter in Miami.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 4

  • Weight

    300

  • School

    Western Kentucky

  • Scouting Report

Lamp is an average-sized lineman who is capable of playing both guard and tackle respectively...

DraftSite's comments: We are not buying the talk of Cunningham moving down the boards. After 2017 the Giants will have a few linebackers hitting free agency and Cunningham has the ability to play inside or outside.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 4

  • Weight

    230

  • School

    Vanderbilt

DraftSite's comments: A linebacker is probably the biggest need but McDowell has the most natural talent left on the board and the Raiders will welcome a menacing tackle along the defensive line.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 6

  • Weight

    290

  • School

    Michigan State

  • Scouting Report

McDowell may be the first defensive tackle to be off the board in this year's draft...

DraftSite's comments: Don't adjust your computer screen. Webb is a player that fits more with head coach Bill O'Brien than Deshaun Watson. O'Brien will have a chance to groom him, he can make a luxury pick here because if the Texans have a down year he will not be in danger of being fired.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 3

  • Weight

    225

  • School

    Cal

  • Scouting Report

He made a good successor after Jared Goff, but how will the big leagues fare for this guy? He just might make a good backup...

DraftSite's comments: Seattle has to improve the offensive line...immediately.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 5

  • Weight

    295

  • School

    Utah

DraftSite's comments: The Chiefs may be tempted to take a quarterback here with the run commencing on signal callers and Deshaun Watson still available. Here Hassan Reddick makes sense giving the Chiefs a speedy, playmaking linebacker.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 0

  • Weight

    235

  • School

    Temple

DraftSite's comments: Takkarist McKinley may be the choice here but we feel overall health may be an issue as the Cowboys want to be assured they have help getting after the quarterback immediately. Adoree Jackson could be chosen here or even a receiver like Corey Dav is but the Cowboys have a specific wish here and they should have tunnel vision looking at ends or pass rushing linebackers.

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 3

  • Weight

    260

  • School

    Missouri

DraftSite's comments: Jabrill Peppers is too good to pass up at #29 and will be a starter right away.

Jabrill Peppers

  • Height

    6' 0

  • Weight

    210

  • School

    Michigan

DraftSite's comments: The Roethlisberger retirement talk was more than just smoke. While DeShone Kizer is built more like Roethlisberger he is likely to drop into Round 2 or 3. The Steelers could go for defensive help and take a signal caller later. If they do look for local product Nathan Peterman to be the target.

Deshaun Watson

  • Country

    United States

  • Height

    6' 2

  • Weight

    221

  • School

    Clemson

DraftSite's comments: Inking Dontari Poe means the defensive lien pick sahould be along the edge and not in the interior. Carl Lawson is the choice here as once again the medical questions surrounding Takkarist McKinley will drop him into the second round.

    United States

  • Height

    6' 2

  • Weight

    257

  • School

DraftSite's comments: In this scenario the Saints make it out of the first round with a linebacker and a safety meaning perhaps their next pair of selections will be pass rushers along the edge.
