Additional Information At six foot and 190, he is a dynamic scoring wing who just keeps getting scoring chances and taking them. Solid skater with lateral agility, but he isn’t a blazer, so he exploits the seams & soft spots in coverage. Displays quick hands and a scorers mentality, but doesn’t necessarily use his agility as a one trick pony in the attack zone. He is responsible in all three zones and is competitive in backside pressure. His forte is on the power play he is able to generate chances and get to soft areas and use his head and hands to shoot the puck. Has a wicked one-timer, and a quick release cannon of a snap shot. Has been an elite attacker in the QMJHL. Very patient and has smart feel about where he should while in the attack zone, and can beat you with surprising heavy perimeter shot, or simply get in closer and sniff around for scores in the area. seems to swoop into existing puck battles and come out unmolested, and quickly moving into the blue dot, causing the goalie to start changing his position and taking advantage with his sneaky backhand or quick wrister. He lit up the World Juniors U-20 for Czech with seven goals in seven games at 18 years of age. He has emerged as one of the top picks in the class, because of his fiery offense capabilities may continue to develop into the pro game. A pure shooter, who can change a game with one flick of his wrists...

Scouting Profile

Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Cam Russell added some big time offense at the CHL Import Draft on Wednesday by adding exciting forward Filip Zadina from the Czech Republic with the 10th pick in the draft. Scouts call Zadina a clever and dynamic offensive player. He has a late 1999 birthday meaning he’ll be among the oldest players eligible for the NHL Entry Draft next year and is already considered to be one of the top prospects available. He is a left-handed shooting right winger that projects to bring plenty of punch to the Mooseheads lineup. Zadina brings with him an excellent shot with a knack for scoring big goals as was evident when he led his country to a gold medal at last year’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial by scoring twice in a 4-3 win over the United States. He tied for the goal scoring lead in that tournament. He has scored 73 points in 65 games in International Junior play.
